Colorado Forest Wedding at Lost Fork Basecamp Near Guanella Pass
If you’ve ever wondered about the perfect location to elope in the springtime in Colorado, let me introduce you to Lost Fork Basecamp. This little getaway is tucked on the south entrance of Guanella Pass in Grant, Colorado and gives instant adventure access and zero stress energy. Also, if you have guests, you’re all situated next to each other in the cutest little (upscale) cabins so. Win win.
This was a styled shoot (aka, lets play pretend and make it look real) and the Prathers were the perfect mix of playful, affectionate, and ready to basically start their own romcom franchise. The goal of this styled shoot was to show what’s possible here. How cozy, beautiful, and low key an elopement or wedding day can be when you pick a spot that just works.
Why Lost Fork?
Lost Fork Basecamp checks every boxy for couples who want forest views and cabins without logistical chaos. You’ve got private cabins with kitchens, comfy beds, hot showers, your very own hot tub, covered porches. The cabins are near each other so if you’re there with loved ones, you’re nice and close too so you can have your space and privacy while still feeling close enough to feel together.
There is also some insanely gorgeous land around Lost Fork - this styled shoot was set up on the other side of the river that runs through the property. Just a short 2 or 3 minute walk from the cabins.
What the Day Can Actually Look Like
You can start the morning nice and slow with coffee in the hot tub while the sun comes up over the mountains. Lost Fork is tucked into the valley so it’ll be a bit before the sun hits in the morning, giving you (IMO) that perfect cool Colorado morning. Make breakfast together in your cabin or head to nearby Grant or Bailey, Colorado to grab breakfast together.
Slowly start getting ready together or seperate. You can have guests at this property or not - that’s the beauty of Lost Fork. It’s kinda a choose your own adventure and is customizable to whatever feels right to you.
You can say your vows on the property along the river, on one of the many bridges that spans the property, and even hop in your car and head up to the top of Guanella Pass to watch sunset from the Square Tops Trailhead. A personal favorite spot for sunrise and sunset photos.
Things to Do (and Why I Love This Area)
Hiking
Endless trails at all difficulty levels are all around you! You’ve got Guanella Pass to the north, you can head south west on 285 and head to Kenosha Pass for one of the most scenic spots for aspens in the entire state.
4x4ing

Wildlife Watching
Moose, elk, deer, eagles, ospreys. Maybeeeee a bear. Definitely a possibility out here.
Stargazing
With practically zero light pollution, the night sky out here is unreal.
Firepit Hangouts
There’s a community gas firepit that is peak cozy and gives you the chance to meet and mingle with anyone else staying on the property!
