Telluride Jeep Elopement with Bella and Grant

If you’ve ever dreamed about driving deeeeep into the mountains with your favorite person, exchanging vows somewhere beautiful, and celebrating with nothing but peaks around you - this Telluride jeep elopement will probably make you very happy.

Telluride is one of the most breathtaking and recognizable places in Colorado to elope. With the towering San Juan peaks, endless backcountry roads, alpine lakes, hidden basins, it’s the perfect place for couples who want adventure without having to sacrifice scenery.

For these two, a traditional wedding didn’t feel right. Instead they wanted a day that felt relaxed, meaningful, explorative (is that a word?), and a little adventurous. Something that reflected who they are when they’re together.

So we packed up the jeep, headed into the mountains, and created a day that was completely their own.

If you’re in the “sounds amazing but HOW do you actually elope in Colorado” phase, I’ve got a full guide breaking that down right here → How to Elope in Colorado.

Why a Jeep Elopement in Telluride is So Special

One of the best parts about eloping in Telluride is that most of the stunning locations aren’t right off the highway. They’re tucked away and into the mountains. And that’s where our adventure begins!

With a high clearance 4x4/4WD vehicle, you can access incredibleeee alpine basins, scenic passes, hidden lakes. Basically all of the cool places that feel worlds away from the busy town below.

A Telluride jeep elopement allows you to to:

  • Reach secluded alpine locations

  • Avoid crowded ceremony spots

  • Experience the rugged beauty of the San Juan Mountains

  • Turn your wedding day into an actual adventure

For couples who love exploring together, it’s hard to imagine a more perfect way to start a marriage!

Exploring The San Juan Mountains Around Telluride

The day started at one of my favorite alpine lakes just outside of Telluride. The water was perfectly still that morning, reflecting the surrounding peaks like a mirror while the mountains towered over us in every direction. It was one of those quiet mountain moments where everything feels calm and a little magical. The kind of start that reminds you why couples choose to elope out here in the first place!

From there, we drove deeper into the San Juan Mountains in search of wildflowers (not to compete with Bella’s incredible bouquet from Marigolds, a florist out of Idaho Springs) and big open views. Before long we found ourselves standing in the middle of a massive field of colorful wildflowers, completely surrounded by jagged peaks. It felt like stepping into a hidden corner of the mountains that most people never see. The sky started to darken as a summer storm rolled in, adding that dramatic San Juan energy that makes the landscape feel even more alive.

As the clouds thickened and the wind picked up, we made our way toward one of my favorite 4x4 roads near Telluride. But first, obviously we had to stop at the overlook above the lake to watch the storm roll through. Low clouds began spilling through the valleys while fog wrapped itself around the mountains, transforming the landscape into something almost otherworldly. It’s one of the things I love most about the San Juans. How the weather changes quickly, and sometimes those moody skies create the most unforgettable moments.

Eventually we continued deeper into the mountains, winding our way up a rugged road until we reached a quiet alpine basin tucked high among the peaks. As the sun began to set behind the mountains, the couple shared their vows surrounded by nothing but wild landscape and open sky. A few campers were settling in for the night nearby, but the basin was spacious enough that it still felt peaceful and private — just the soft glow of sunset, the sound of the wind moving through the trees, and the start of a brand new chapter together.

Let’s Build a Day That Actually Makes Sense For you

I spend an unreasonable amount of time driving dirt roads, chasing light, watching weather roll in, and mentally filing away places where you can say your vows without signing up for a four hour sufferfest.

My job is to help you figure out where to go, when to go, and how to make it all work, without this turning into a stressful logistics spiral. Timelines, permits, prep guides (yes, multiple), backup plans for when Colorado does its thing… handled. You show up, drink your coffee, get married, maybe eat cake out of a box. Ideal.

The point isn’t to make it perfect. It’s to make it make sense for you. And then document the hell out of it.

If you’re into that, we should probably talk.

Why Work With Me?

  • Because you want jaw dropping views without sweating through your wedding clothes

  • You care more about connection than perfection - you’re up for whatever Colorado weather throws your way because you’ve got your person

  • You want help from someone who’s actually been here a while (11 years of calling Colorado home and I swear I explore it more than the folks born here)

  • Cookie-cutter isn’t your thing and you want a day that actually feels like you

  • Planning stuff isn’t always fun BUT having someone walk you through timelines and permits and what shows not to wear on icy trails? Super helpful

  • Your dog is 100% your family and deserves a front row seat (obvs)

  • You want photos that look like art but feel like you two. Mid laugh, wind blown, in your element

So yep! I help plan epic days, create stunning photos, and bring snacks. If that doesn’t sound like the perfect day, I don’t know what does.
