In September, I was lucky enough to work with some amazing Grand Valley vendors on an editorial shoot at the wineries on East Orchard Mesa in Palisade. It was a stunning rendition of running around with badass women, driving down dirt roads, chasing the light in gorgeous dresses, running up and down the rows of vineyards, and creating for the sake of creating.
Truly, every girls dream.
Wine country in Colorado is like Napa but even better because it still has small town charm.With over 30 wineries to explore, Palisade is a dream destination for couples in 2020 looking for the charm of a small town, with the vineyards and orchards of local wineries. East Orchard Mesa climbs up a couple hundred feet and winds in and out of the roaming slopes that vineyards often favor, affording you with a sweeping view of the Grand Valley and Mount Garfield of the Bookcliffs. In Palisade, the vineyards begin to bloom in April, and May, until around August or September when they begin to net the vines to keep wildlife from snacking on the grapes. Palisade is, in my opinion, also one of the 10 Best Places in Colorado to Propose!
This Palisade Colorado wedding editorial was an absolute dream - and one of my favorite memories of this summer. After we wrapped shooting, the sun had set, the models had gone home. I sat with Abbie who owns Blossom Design and Afton who owns Annelise Bridal who had orchestrated and put together the entire shoot, at the tablescape nestled in the rows of vines. The sky was still dark blue, the summer heat had begun to dissipate, the candles were nearing the end of their lifespan, and the cookies became too tempting. Over our conversation of creating and community and weddings and life you could hear the crickets and wildlife that live abunduntly on the West Slope.
It was an experience that I remember and look back on fondly even months later, exactly what every wedding should be. Experience, memories, and company. And the people that put together and contributed to this editorial in Colorados’ wine country truly know how to create that experience for you.
