Western Colorado Botanical Gardens Wedding

These two drove all the way out to Grand Junction from Denver not through one snowstorm, but two. So when we set out to capture some wedding photos for them, we had to make sure it was extra special! We started out with a first look and vows at the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens in Grand Junction. It was a cool sunny day in the 50’s which made the botanical gardens surprisingly a bit hot! Because of the humidity to keep all of the flowers and butterflies living their best life, botanical gardens are super hot and humid. We loved being able to go in and out of the gardens to help cool off!

After J&A read their vows to each other, we headed off to one of my favorite restaurants in Grand Junction, Taco Party! If you ever find yourself here, try the pork belly taco. It is SO good. After a quick bite we headed to a parking garage to get super creative, before heading off to a beautiful canyon overlook where we all watched sunset together!

Grand Junction is such a magical place to elope, and the Western Colorado Botanical Gardens are often overlooked as a wedding backdrop. If you’re looking for warmth and green for your wedding ceremony during winter months when everything is typically covered in snow, the botanical gardens are a perfect location. They have wedding permits for different areas, including the rainforest room where J&A shared their vows! Click here learn more about Western Colorado Botanical Gardens weddings. Country Elegance Florists also so graciously made this beautiful bouquet for us as well, if you’re looking for a florist in the valley I cannot recommend them enough!

Kimberly Crist

Hi, I'm Kimberly 👋

Colorado elopement photographer, snack enthusiast, and your personal hype woman for ditching the traditional wedding entirely.

I spend most of my time wandering dirt roads around Crested Butte, the San Juans, and Denver finding the kind of spots that make you forget what stress even feels like. You know — the ones with the views that hit different at sunrise, where the wildflowers are doing too much, and the only witnesses are a couple of marmots and your dog in a tiny bandana.

If you're dreaming of vows somewhere wildly beautiful with zero seating charts involved, hi. That's literally what I do. You bring the love story. I'll bring the camera, the location ideas, and enough snacks to get us through golden hour.
