Gateway Canyons Resort Wedding

When C+A first reached out to me about photographing their wedding day in Gateway, I was all hands on deck. Gateway is one of my favorite locations on the western slope and such a nice spot that’s in Colorado but feels a lot like Moab.

Gateway is mostly comprised of Gateway Resort - it’s the type of town where everyone who lives in town works at the resort, and most of the staff live on site. They’re all so passionate about sharing this special spot with the guests who stay here and there is no shortage of things to do in Gateway.

Gateway Canyons Resort Activities:

  • Helicopter tours

  • Horseback riding

  • Jeeping + Side by side rentals

  • An antique automobile museum

  • Pools to cool off in

  • Mountain biking

  • Restaurants

  • Shooting sports

  • Wine country tours

  • National Park tours

  • A spa

  • Walking access to hiking trails

  • Driving access to even more trails

If you’re looking for an all inclusive type of wedding where you and your partner, or even you and your closest friends and family spend the days doing everything Colorado has to offer, then Gateway could be the wedding backdrop you’ve been looking for.

For C+A, we went offsite to an overlook reminiscent of the towering sand stone canyons of Moab to a little pull off that is as private as private gets. This spot that is just a quick drive up a dirt road gives you SO much privacy in an area that already is an escape from the hustle and bustle of what you think of when you think of touristy Colorado mountain town. They started their ceremony by dancing to one of their favorite songs, playing rock, paper, scissors to see who would read their vows first, and saying “I do” in front of the junipers and confluence. We followed up their ceremony by wandering around the area where they found a geocache too! Once the sun began to set a bit, we headed out to some private property of Gateway Canyon Resort that they were nice enough to allow C+A to explore while they celebrated with champagne and read notes and messages from their friends and loved ones. They ended their wedding day by dancing to their favorite song and have a private chef catered dinner by Gateway Canyons Resort.

If you’re looking for a spot that truly gets you away from everyone but right smack dab in the middle of all the things to do - Gateway could be the perfect backdrop for your wedding day. Reach out to see how I can help plan and photograph all of those happy moments, quiet tears, and joyous laughs.

Hi, I'm Kimberly 👋

Colorado elopement photographer, snack enthusiast, and your personal hype woman for ditching the traditional wedding entirely.

I spend most of my time wandering dirt roads around Crested Butte, the San Juans, and Denver finding the kind of spots that make you forget what stress even feels like. You know — the ones with the views that hit different at sunrise, where the wildflowers are doing too much, and the only witnesses are a couple of marmots and your dog in a tiny bandana.

If you're dreaming of vows somewhere wildly beautiful with zero seating charts involved, hi. That's literally what I do. You bring the love story. I'll bring the camera, the location ideas, and enough snacks to get us through golden hour.
